39 vie to design Kieślowski Faculty’s seat

Thirty-nine projects were submitted to a competition of an architectural and urban concept of a new seat of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty (WRiTV), the University of Silesia in Katowice nationwide unit. An eight-person competition jury started today an evaluation of the projects.

The contest was announced in July 2010 by the Katowice Branch of the Association of Polish Architects (SARP Katowice). In October, sixty-nine architectural studios from Poland and abroad were qualified to prepare and submit competition entries. Finally, the thirty-nine teams decided to file their projects.

The results are planned to be announced by the end of 10th of March, 2011. A chosen architectural studio will be invited to further negotiations concerning the winning project.

The seat of Radio and Television Faculty will be built at 3 Św. Pawła Street, with a ground surface of 2 258 sq. meters. The plot is located in the City Center in the area of a housing district, close to streets: Warszawska, Bankowa and Wodna.

The Faculty’s seat will cost approximately PLN 20 million.
