Bear a hand in building the new Railway Station

Next Friday, on 27th of May, an event called “Bear a hand in building the new center of Katowice” will take place at Szewczyka Square. On the occasion of a cornerstone ceremony planned for 31st of May, citizens will have a chance to bear its hands symbolically in building the new Railway Station and Galeria Katowicka.

The event will be organized by Neinver Polska, the developer of the project at Szewczyka Sq., in cooperation with Kroll Ontrack, Strabag and Polish State Railways (PKP) within the social campaign “Centrum KTW”. The campaign was inaugurated in April this year and, among others, is to present the project to the local society.

From the beginning of the day, citizens will be able to see a conctruction site and work progress using a viewing platform situated at 5 Szewczyka Sq. Near the platform, two independent stands equipped with computers and scanners will be located. Everyone will have a chance to scan its handprint. The prints will be written and stored on computers discs. The Kroll Ontrack company, a leading provider of data recovery services, is going to deliver the equipment. On 31st of May, during the cornerstone ceremony, a protected disc with the recorded handprints will be placed in foundations of the complex being developed at Szewczyka Sq.

In February, the developer launched a camera which accurately follows the construction work’s progress. It can be seen from any place around the globe due to www.dworzec-katowice.info website. Since the next Friday, people coming by the construction site will be able to use small “windows” cut in a facing of the construction site. The “windows” will be placed at a height suitable for adults, children and people on wheelchairs.
