The City of Katowice has finished a search procedure for companies interested in a development of water park in Katowice. Three companies – Berndorf Bäderbau (Jaworze), Miastoprojekt (Wrocław), Leo 11 (Warsaw) – filed theirs offers in the City Hall. By the end of February a chosen company will be announced and will take part in further negotiations. It is planned to develop the complex in frame of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) formula. The aim of this type of cooperation is to join public contribution as land, possible capital input, subsidies and remuneration with financing, know-how and experience of a private firm.
The water park plot of 8,9 ha is located between Ceglana, Kościuszki and Zgrzebnioka Streets near A4 highway and approx. 2,2 km from the Railway Station. The complex would be made up of a modern indoor pool&recreation facility with usable space of ca. 14 500 sq. m, an outdoor area of seasonal pools surrounded by green areas and sport fields, car parks and additional supporting facilities (i.e. hotel, offices, restaurants). Estimated value of the project is PLN 220 million.
