CDI pushes Supersam project forward

Centrum Development & Investments (CDI), a developer and management company of retail and office buildings located in main Polish cities, is preparing to start Katowice project – revitalization of Supersam. Before that, the company will present the scheme during the Shopping Center Forum & Trade Fair in Warsaw this September.

„We already filed a motion for building permit in the City Hall of Katowice. A start of construction work will depend on the duration of administrative procedures, however the completion date of Supersam planned for 2013 should not undergo any changes” – says Dorota Wojciechowska, PR & Marketing Director at CDI.

The building of new Supersam will cover a total area of 46 000 sq. meters. Approximately 19 000 sq. m. of retail spaces over two floors will be provided where about 90 shops and service units are going to be placed. Above the retail space, a three storey car park is designed for 400 vehicles.

“Katowice is a city where the retail market is still unsaturated and we see a pretty vivid interest in our project. At that moment, CDI negotiates first leasing contracts. We want to address the shopping offer to young people. Apart from clothes stores, there will be an entertainment area. Supersam is going to be a typical convenience shopping center for the day-to-day needs of consumers and a good place for meetings” – Wojciechowska added.

The existing building of Supersam is located at 6 Piotra Skargi St. and was raised in 1937. The new project includes demolishment of the building, only three steel spans of the original structure will be adapted to new Supersam reminding about engineering conception of Stefan Bryła, designer of the steel structure. The new architectural design was prepared by Konior Studio from Katowice and Benoy based in London.
