Didactics and Medical Simulation Center launches

The Medical University of Silesia inaugurated yesterday start of its project of the Didactics and Medical Simulation Center. This high-tech Center will be the first didactics unit of its kind in Poland. In two years the Erbud prime contractor will revamp an old hospital laundry into the ultra-modern institution.

The Center will consist of a medical simulation part at the ground floor and a didactics part at the first floor covering area of 3 750 sq. m. “It will be the entirely unique undertaking in a medical teaching in Poland. Before students will become doctors, they have a chance to learn some of the work and activities manually.” – Ewa Małecka-Tendera, Rector of the University, said in the PAP agency’s press message. What is the most important, the building is predicted to act like a real hospital where students can practice simulation studies using phantoms.

An opening of the Center is planned for October 2012. The PLN 33,4 million investment is financed from Eu funds and the state budget. The Didactics and Medical Simulation Center will be located at 8 Medyków St. in the Ligota district. The project’s website: cdsm.sum.edu.pl
