For the fourth time, an international conference – “City 2010. Energy Efficiency in Cities” – will take place in Katowice. This year, the conference will be held on 22nd – 23rd of March in the angelo Hotel at 24 Sokolska St. Debates will focus on energy efficiency and energy security in cities as well as cities’ responsibilities within the European package of actions in the fields of energy and climate change. An aim of the conference is to reflect on approach towards these challenges by European cities and to concentrate on actions the cities need to take in this respect, the way they should transform the urban infrastructure and finally, how to communicate it to citizens.
The conference will be attended by Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament, Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Minister of Regional Development, some representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission, other European institutions and organizations and several government representatives. Organizers are waiting for an confirmation by Johannes Hahn, the newly appointed European Commissioner for Regional Policy.
This international meeting is organized by Jan Olbrycht, member of the European Parliament, in cooperation with the “Europe is simple” association, the City of Katowice and the Association of Polish Cities.
