The medusa group architectural studio from Bytom and SUD architectes responsible for a design of the Szewczyka Sq. redevelopment and the new Railway Station in Katowice join forces on the project. medusa group will design interiors of the future Galeria Katowicka which is the part of the project.
The studio is known for its exceptional and characteristic projects. An adaptation of a former granary for lofts in Gliwice was discussed in many branch magazines and portals accross the world. medusa group was established in 1997 by Łukasz Zagała and Przemo Łukasik. Before they both had got experience in offices of Odile Decq and Jean Nouvel in Paris, France. In 2008 medusa group moved their office from Gliwice to Bytom, into an abandoned warehouse they had purchased and renovated. Przemo Łukasik lives in a loft home designed by medusa group. Located in a former headlamp storehouse belonging to a defunct coal mine, it was the first widely publicized loft dwelling in Poland. The studio was awarded many times both in Poland and other countries (e.g. first prize in the Leonardo competition).
medusa group is also known for its projects in Katowice – e.g. Silesia Business Park for Skanka, the “Widok” apartments (MK Inwestycje), apartment buildings of “Bażantowo” (Millenium Inwestycje) and “Galeria Południe” (GC Investment). Last year, the studio prepared elements of spatial identification for the “Tauron Nowa Muzyka” festival in Katowice.
Many projects of medusa group were designed in a characteristic approach to an industrial architecture. In fact, the twenty folks’ team offers a wide range of services including architecture and industrial design, urban planning, visual and performing arts. Now, the studio, in cooperation with SUD Architectes and Neinver, face a challenge of designing an interiors decoration of Galeria Katowicka.

Development of the new Railway Station, an underground bus station, Galeria Katowicka and an office building totals approx. EUR 240 million.
