Approximately 5 000 sq. meters of commercial space were recently leased in the tallest building of Katowice, Altus. The main tenant is Planet Cinema, a multiplex cinema chain headquartered in Katowice. The lease agreement has just been signed.
The cinema will be located on the third floor of the building. The movie theater covers the total area of approximately 4 000 sq. meters where six screening rooms and 1 600 seats in total will be put at cinema-goers disposal. The official opening of Planet Cinema Katowice will be celebrated on 14th of February 2014.
The chain was established in 2011 in Katowice and manages one four-screen cinema in Oświęcim. The company is also preparing for its next opening in Ełk to be happened by the end of this year. One of the Planet Cinema’s investors is the „Agata Meble” Retail Group. The new tenant replaces a former one – the Helios multiplex chain, which had been managing the Altus’ movie theater for 10 years until the middle of December 2013 when the lease contract expired.
Helios was a nine-screen cinema covering the second (three screens) and third floor (six screens) of the building. „The third floor will be occupied by Planet Cinema while the second one we are going to transform into a conference center. There will be three spacious conference theaters, a foyer and a cafe” – says Maciej Jaglarz, CEO of Izera, a company which owns Altus.
The ground floor of the building will soon house the Chopin Cafe of Paterman and Cortland, an authorised reseller of Apple, moving from the first floor. The empty unit of Cortland will be occupied by Casinos Poland, which is going to enlarge its gaming space.
Izera bought Altus in August 2013 for PLN 185 million. It is the A-class 32-storey (including 3 underground storeys) mixed-use building which offers 65 000 sq. meters of total space and 15 220 sq. meters of office space to let. The facility was delivered in late 2003 and is located at 13 Uniwersytecka St.
