Demolition works on the former Civil Registry Office’s seat (“Pałac Ślubów”) located at 14 Korfantego Av. in the City Center were officially concluded on Thursday. The City Hall of Katowice is going to set the plot for sale to private investors. Before that, the area will be destined for a temporary car park.
It will be presented during the this year’s Expo Real international trade fair for commercial property and investment which will take place in Munich from 4th to 6th of October. The 7500 sq. meters plot will be presented during the event together with other investment offers of the City.
“We already talked initially about the plot with potential investors, however the former building was a sensitive issue. Now I think the talks will be much more easier” – said Przemysław Rogala, Mayor’s Plenipotentiary for the redevelopment of Roundabout – Market Square area.
The plot is located inside the limits of the City’s downtown designed for the redevelopment (Roundabout – Market Square). It is one of plots which will be sold for private investors in this area (map). Buildings, which would be raised on the sites, have no particular functions planned and it will depend on investors preferences, however the first two storeys have to be occupied by trade, gastronomy, entertainment or services units.
A total cost of the Civil Registry Office’s demolition was PLN 231 000. The works were conducted by “Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane HPM Sp. z o.o.”
