Chopin Airport Development (CAD) has chosen a prime contractor of the first Moxy hotel in Poland. The facility will be erected at the Katowice Airport. Construction work will be launched by the end of the third quarter 2017.
The prime contractor is IDS-BUD from Warsaw. A contract between the companies were already signed. The works will last 12 months. Moxy is a new economy brand in the Marriott chain’s portfolio and the solutions used in the project are a completely new quality in the industry, according to Chopin Airport Development. CAD and Marriott signed a franchise agreement for the construction of the hotel under the Moxy brand in September 2015. Now CAD has chosen the prime contractor.
The hotel will be situated right next to one of the airport’s terminals. The guests will be able to choose from 100 comfortable rooms on 5 stories as well as parking spaces around the building. According to the CAD representatives, the new hotel will be addressed to the so called Y generation customers.
The lobby will feature a mining cart as well as a large communal table. An island bar will be the central feature of the ground floor space in the hotel. There will be a place for people to work, read books (as there will be a small library) as well as to rest. Also, mine shaft paintins will remind about the industrial heritage of the Upper Silesia region. The Emkaa Architekci studio from Warsaw is responsible for the architectural design.
The investment will be the sixth hotel in the CAD portfolio and its fifth airport hotel.
