Projects of GIG under construction

A joint venture of the Central Mining Institute (GIG) from Katowice and the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal (IChPW) from Zabrze started in April 2010 construction works of the Clean Coal Technologies Center (CCTW). The unit is designed for developing and elaborating new processes and researches in the clean coal technologies area. At the same time, the Radiometry Laboratory is being developed nearby. Both buildings will be located at 1 Gwarków Sq.

“Construction works of both buildings are run according to the schedule. The Radiometry Laboratory will be ready by the end of 2011. The Clean Coal Technologies Center is scheduled for opening in mid 2012” – said Sylwia Jarosławska-Sobór, Press Spokesperson at GIG.

The 5 000 sq. meters of CCTW will be located on five storeys and was designed by the Barysz Point Line architectural studio.

The value of the project amounts EUR 45 million including EUR 36 million within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund. The project includes also a cooperation between Polish, European and US scientists to improve coal technologies.

Budus S.A. is the prime contractor of both buildings.
