The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice is looking for a prime contractor to redevelop and renovate an Academy’s Vocal and Instrumental Faculty seat at 5 Szafranka Street. After a famous extension of the Academy of Music – development of the Science and Music Education Center “Symfonia” – and a renewal of the main building, the planned renovation of the Faculty is a next step to recover the ancient complex.
The redevelopment and renovation works will cost almost PLN 10 million. European Union’s grants will cover 33 percent of this amount. Both the interiors and the façade of the three storey building will be fully refurbished. An external lift for physically challenged will be developed. The three phase works are scheduled to be finished in September 2012.
The Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice was founded in 1929. Seated in a neo-Gothic building the Academy combines its luminous past marked by such outstanding graduates as Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Krystian Zimerman with its present artistic and didactic activities.
