On Thursday, 16th of December, preparatory works at Szewczyka Sq. will enter the second stage. After ten days of works a part of the overpass at the Square was already demolished. Tomorrow, the fencing will be moved to enable a demolishment of the second part of the overpass as well as the Railway Station’s building.
This stage will take a few weeks. Afterwards, construction works will start and Szewczyka Sq. will be entirely closed until an opening of the new Railway Station’s building in Q2 2012. According to the latest investors statement, a delivery date of Galeria Katowicka was changed from Q4 2012 to Q2 2013. “After choosing Strabag as the prime contractor a more detailed works specification is possible, thereby an opening of Galeria Katowicka had to be moved in time. The investors prioritize the construction works of Railway Station’s building. It will be made available for passengers in spring 2012 and the date does not change” – said Patrycja Siekierska, representative of Neinver.
Last days Neinver and the British real estate company Meyer Bergman announced an entering into a joint venture to undertake the investment. A financing was secured through Pekao Bank. A total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 240 million.
