The City Hall of Katowice invites bids to prepare a two-variant project of redesign of the GKS Katowice football club’s stadium. The project has to include a previous design prepared by Modern Construction Systems Sp. z o.o.
The company had presented the project where all four stadium’s stands were free-standing facilities. Supporters of GKS Katowice suggested to build in four corners between the stands, what would enable to increase the stadium’s capacity and create a solid enclosed space of the structure. The City Hall took into consideration the suggestion and included it in the tender’s specification.
Thereby, the capacity of the stadium will be increased, a lighting will be installed on the roof. At present, the stadium’s lighting is provided by four stand-alone poles situated in the corners. After the redevelopment, the lighting poles will be moved to illuminate a training ground. Moreover, the new project will include skyboxes, two LED screens installed on the south and north stands. Additionally, the south stand will be equipped with folding chairs.
The new stadium will be built in stages by the end of 2014.

I hope they will build this stadium as quick as possible as GKS,supporters and town of Katowice diserve it.
