A great opening of the History of Katowice Museum took place today in the Nikiszowiec district. The renovated building is a seat of the Museum’s branch – “the Ethnology of the City” Section. The project of the Museum’s renewal called “A heart of Nikiszowiec” is a part of the district revitalization.
The Museum’ branch was renovated thanks to approximately PLN 3 million from the EU funds (European Regional Development Fund)
Approximately PLN 3,2 million of EU fund was granted last year for a renovation of an old mangel building in Nikiszowiec district as the new History of Katowice Museum unit. Following PLN 600 000 was donated by the City Hall. Thanks to the funds the renovation is currently progressing. Two storeys of the building and a basement will be modernly equipped covering area of 1 100 sq. m. About 400 sq. m is planned for temporary and constant expositions.
The History of Katowice Museum will be renovated thanks to PLN 3 million from the EU funds and PLN 1 million of the Katowice’s budget. Localized at the market of Nikiszowiec district, in the past was used by inhabitants as a laundry and a mangel. In 1990’s was predicted for a branch of the History of Katowice Museum. As the building needed a renovation, it was waiting for better days. This year the Museum was granted by EU funds and the branch of Museum can expect a second life.
