At the beginning of April, a simulation of an underground bus station, which will be developed under the building of the Railway Station, took place in a bus depot in Gliwice. An aim of the simulation was to examine projected traffic solutions in a real conditions. Neinver’s specialists wanted to make sure if a passengers circulation, buses manoeuvres, driveways and parking capabilities work properly. Fifteen meters long articulated buses as well as shorter vehicles were used in the simulation.
As is known since several weeks, a present localisation of the bus station will be moved from Szewczyka Sq. to Sądowa St. It is connected with the Railway Station redevelopment plan of Neinver which is going to build a mixed-use complex at Szewczyka Sq. Presently, the company is preparing a design documentation to obtain a planning permission for the project. However, the City of Katowice will be responsible for the investment financing.
PKP S.A. (Polish State Railways) has announced today a bid call for a project and construction works of a temporary railway station. The station will service passengers during the redevelopment of the main Railway Station hall and will be localised on Oddziałów Młodzieży Powstańczej Square in the rear of the present Station building. The temporary station will be made available for passengers at the beginning of June 2010.
