University of Silesia is now closer to launch the construction work on the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty’s new seat (WRiTV). The university, as the orderer, had issued the competitive tender for prime contractors last month. Bids opening took place last Friday.
„There are six bidders willing to build our new educational facility. The most competitive offer was made by Mostostal Warszawa” – said Jacek Szymik-Kozaczko, press spokesman of the University of Silesia. The list of companies tendering for the contract and their offered prices include: Mostostal Warszawa (PLN 19,53 million), Mostostal Zabrze (PLN 26,8 million), Unimax (PLN 29,5 million), Dombud (PLN 32,2 million), Budimex (PLN 34,5 million) and the consortium of ARCO System, Spec Bau and Osiedle Łabędzie (PLN 41,8 million).
According to estimated costs, the university is prepared to spend PLN 22,38 million for the construction work. All the bidders want to erect the building in 18 months since the contract is signed. Now the bids have to be checked in accordance with the tendering specification and only then a favourable company will be chosen.
The new seat of Radio and Television Faculty will be built on Pawła St. in the City Center. Polish „Grupa 5 Architekci” and BAAS from Spain won the international competition to design the building in 2011. The seat will be the first facility of UniverCity, an academic district to be created in the area of Pawła, Wodna and Górnicza streets by 2018.
