The University of Silesia in Katowice is preparing to realization of the MODLAB research laboratories project. Last year the project was granted by European Union within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund. The EU help amounts PLN 24 million. A total cost exceeds PLN 29 million.
The project embraces a refurbishment of three old University’s laboratories of the Institute of Physics and the Faculty of Earth Science and its transformation into high-tech research units. The two old labs are located in Katowice, the third one is in Sosnowiec and all three cover a total area of 5 550 sq. meters including 4 322 sq. m. designed for didactic units.
Recently, the University signed an agreement with the Almaprojekt studio which will prepare a project documentation.
