Modern retail stock in Katowice area by DTZ

DTZ, global real estate advisors, prepared a retail guide on Polish shopping centers. The publication provides data on retail industry in 15 locations including the Katowice agglomeration. The analysts also compared several key retail cities across Europe.

City Hall chose Market Sq. designer

In the middle of October, the City Hall of Katowice invited four architectural firms to enter final bids for a detailed design of the Market Square’s public spaces. The tender was decided on Thursday.

Only two out of the four studios decided to make the offers. The bids had to include the architectural concept of the public spaces and the price proposal which will have to be paid the winner for the detailed design documentation. The price (60%) and the architectural concept (40%) were the decisive criteria taken into consideration by the jury.

Korfantego Av. to be re-opened for trams this year

After 94 days of works, the tram route between the Roundabout and the Market Sq. – part of Korfantego Av. – will be re-opened. The tram lines 6, 7, 11, 13 and 19 will return to service the section on Monday morning, 24th of December.

The holdup of tram services was connected with the redevelopment of the City Center and the first stage of works between the Rialto cinema and the Roundabout being conducted by the consortium of NDI and Balzola.

GTL announces to build terminal C, Ryanair announces four new flights

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL) announced on Tuesday that will build a new arrivals hall at the Katowice International Airport. According to GTL’s authorities works will be kicked-off next year. The same day Ryanair introduced four new destinations to be operated from the Airport in 2013.

The Airport will be able to handle between 5,5 to 6 million passengers yearly thanks to the new facility called terminal C (now it is approximately 3,6 million passenger a year). The building will be erected near the existing terminal B.
