The center of Katowice is still a huge construction site. See on pictures how the area is being reshaped.
Both the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra’s new seat and the International Convention Center are under construction. Works on the first of the two venues are more advanced and the building is scheduled for opening on 1st of October this year. The Silesian Museum waits for the official opening of its new seat. The date is yet unknown. Occupancy permit was issued for the building in December last year.
The second office building of A4 Business Park has been recently topped out and works were commenced on the elevation. Also, builders will soon reach the top of another office scheme located in the City center – Silesia Star. The 7th storey of the first of two buildings is now being under construction and one more floor left to top out the facility.
Additionally, initial works were started on the Market Sq. in the heart of Katowice. The area, so called Flower Sq., will soon be improved by the creation of new public spaces (fountain, street furnitures, greenery, florists booths). Not far from the square, the development of Supersam is now slowly being reached the ground level.
The Silesian Philharmonic came back to its expanded and refurbished historic seat last month.
The pictures were taken on 25th of April 2014 from the Altus roof by Sławomir Rybok (City Hall of Katowice).
