C4 to be built by Balzola

The City Hall of Katowice decided a public tender procedure for the construction work on the C4 pavilion. The investment is scheduled as the fourth stage of the Roundabout – Market Sq. redevelopment. The facility will be built by Balzola, which is already involved in the area’s revamp.

Balzola was one of five companies, which decided to tender for the contract. Apart from the Spanish firm, offers were also submitted by NDI, Dombud, IKA Jarosław Wójcik and Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Ogólnego i Usług Technicznych „Śląsk”. The City Hall recognized the offer of Balzola as the most competitive and awarded the contract to the company. The prime contractor will earn PLN 3,65 million for the realization of works.

„There were no appeals lodged against the decision of the City Hall and the contract with Balzola will be signed on Tuesday, 13th of October” – said Justyna Łukasiewicz-Musiał, press spokesman of the Katowice City Hall. According to the tender assumptions, the prime contractor will be obliged to deliver the pavilion by the middle of 2016.

This is not the first contract to be fulfilled by Balzola in Katowice. The consortium of Balzola and NDI has been responsible for the construction work on the Roundabout – Market Sq. zone. The companies are now involved in final works being conducted in the central part of this area (so called Central Square).

The C4 two-storey building was designed for gastronomy purposes. It will be located at the Central Square – in the northern part of the Market Square, between the ING Bank Śląski building and a tenement at 1 Korfantego Av. The pavilion will cover the area of approximately 550 sq. meters. It will be made of steel and reinforced concrete to be covered with glass. The size of the cuboid is over 7 meters high and 43 meters wide.
