The City Hall has been conducting the procedure since the middle of 2013 and carried out several rounds of negotiations with the tendering companies at that time. „The invitation to file the final applications was issued on 18th of September. The four companies can submit their offers by 24th of October this year” – said Janusz Nowak, project manager of the International Convention Center.

The list of four invited companies includes: SMG Poland, PTWP Event Center (subsidiary of PTWP Group), HKO and Campus Stella (company related to Global Retail and Residential Estate Services).

When the applications are filed, the City Hall will have to evaluate the offers and choose the preferred concessioneer. There are four criteria to be considered by the City Hall when evaluating the applications: amount of expenditures incurred by the concessioner for the ICC, time of performing the concession, amount of forecast payments made by the concessioner for the benefit of the City Hall and number of days when the City of Katowice may use the ICC free of charge.

The total number of conference seats in the International Convention Center is 12 000, with the multi-purpose hall capable of accommodating around 8 000 people for conferences, banquet hall for 1000 persons, banquet hall foyer for 300 guests, auditorium for 600 spectators, conference rooms for 1200 people and exhibitor offices for 100 persons, with the total usable space amounting to 34 900 sq. meters. The multi-functional character of the infrastructure will enable the operator to organize any event, including sports events with audience, for example tennis, boxing, volleyball and horse riding.

First events are expected to be held in the International Convention Center in March 2015.
