On 7th of June, the consortium of Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman filed the motion for carrying out commissioning procedures and performance testing in relation to the works on the new seat of Silesian Museum.
In practice it means the construction work had been finished by the prime contractor and now the process for quality assurance started. The process enables to find out that the performance of the total building and its systems meet the design assumptions, requirements of the Silesian Museum and help to evaluate if the equipment is working according to specifications.
The 56 days period of the commissioning will include measuring of the works quality, calibration of all devices and sensors as well as a fire alarm simulation and evacuation of the building.
The new seat will be handed over to the Museum only after the commissioning approval. Until that moment, the construction site and the building are still managed by the prime contractor. After the approval, the Silesian Museum will be allowed to move its collections from the present seat and to prepare exhibitions. Also, operators of two restaurants that are planned in the new facility will have to be appointed. The grand opening is scheduled for 2014.
