Footbridge grows over Olimpijska St.

Strabas is building a footbridge that will link the new seat of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the International Convention Center. The development now is finally taking its shape after a few months of slowdown.

Strabag and the City Hall of Katowice signed a contract for the construction of the footbridge in December last year. The City will pay the company gross PLN 10,8 million for the execution of construction work. “By now, one quarter of the contract’s financial value was fulfilled. According to the schedule, the advancement of works will reach two-third of the financial value by the end of this year” – said Małgorzata Kaliszewska, public relations manager at Strabag’s press office.

The prime contractor plans to conclude the construction work on the footbridge in July 2014.

The 119 meters long footbridge over Olimpijska St. will be the another development located in the cultural district. The architectural design was prepared by Konior Studio. Ayesa Poland is responsible for the detailed project. The footbridge will be illuminated and made of raw, architectural concrete. The pavement will be heated with a designed space for cyclists.
