2014 proved to be an exceptional year for Galeria Katowicka, in terms of sales. December saw an increase of approximately 47% compared to the previous month’s sales results. Larger sales are also visible on a year-to-year basis – comparisons of October to December 2014 vs. December 2013 showing a 19% increase.

There is also a steady increase in the number of customers visiting, reaching one million visitors per month within one year of the mall’s opening. In December 2014, over 1 125 000 customers visited Galeria Katowicka and the fourth quarter of last year brought record-high foot traffic, with the number of visitors reaching 3 350 000.

The growth in footfall can be seen on a month-to-month basis, for example, in December 2014, the number of customers increased by 11% compared to November of the same year. Even more substantial increases can be observed by comparing data from corresponding months from October to December in two subsequent years showing a 22% increase.

Many of Galeria Katowicka’s tenants have seen significant sales improvements. Among brands offering accessories, home furnishings, decorations and homeware in general, as well as those preoccupied with sports and outdoors, footwear and children’s products, sales increases ranged from 22% to 82%.

Galeria Katowicka tenant portfolio consists of unique brands available only in the very heart of the Upper Silesian capital, such as Peek & Cloppenburg – a multi-brand store with apparel from Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Armani and Dolce&Gabbana, among others, or Helly Hansen – Poland’s sole shop of the Norwegian company manufacturing sports clothes and accessories, as well as popular brands, including iSpot, Zara, Reserved, Matras, SMYK, 4Faces and Duka.

In 2014 the offer range was extended to include brands such as Samsung Saturn Store – the first concept of this kind in Poland, founded on an idea of synergy between two established brands for fans of new technologies, and Silesia’s only stores of Estee Lauder, MAC (makeup artists’ favorite brand), TOUS, English Home and Ryłko.

Additionally, opening of the biggest TK Maxx store in the whole region and first in Katowice will be seen on 26th of February this year.

Among the most exciting actions conducted by Galeria Katowicka in 2014 are a birthday marketing campaign, „1 Million for 1st Birthday,” introduction of Galeria Katowicka gift cards, a series of Sunday city trips in a renovated Nysa car („Nyscapades”) and a summer „Ride & Help” campaign.

Galeria Katowicka has received roughly ten of the most important commercial real estate awards given in Poland and abroad. In 2014 it won a prestigious, double prize at CEEQA Awards, „Construction of the Year” title conferred by the Polish Association of Engineers and Construction Technicians, and an honorary mention at 2014 PRCH Retail Awards (New Shopping Center of 2014 category).

Renovated Creative Suite – a coworking space – is one of concepts introduced in 2014, with Internet access and a multimedia projector, offering everything one needs for work. It is the only spot of its kind in the whole region.

Past year, Galeria Katowicka was also instrumental in reinvigorating pedestrian use of the center of Katowice, according to the owner. A study showed that on 12th of September 2014, over 75 thousand people circulated around the mall. With a footfall increase of approximately 33%, this stands in a contrast to April 2013 – when the mall was under construction, and when the study was conducted for the first time.

Galeria Katowicka, a retail and transport center, is located in the heart of Katowice at Szewczyka Sq. Its retail space of 53 000 sq. meters hosts over 250 units.
