Major construction works were finished on Słowackiego St. where the Multikino cinema will be located. Roof covering and installations are being mounted there at present. “The prime contractor poured 115 000 cubic meters of concrete to erect the multi-functional complex at Szewczyka Sq.” – said Daniel Muc, Strabag’s press spokesman for the Galeria Katowicka project.

Finishing works are at full swing inside the mall. Glassy store-windows are being fitted at the second floor below the umbrella pillars. The maximum height of the windows is nine meters. Workers also mount glass facades at the ground floor, in premises located at Szewczyka Sq. as well as on Słowackiego and 3 Maja streets.

Banisters are being installed and floor-laying is underway in the passages and staircases. Flooring works are also proceeding in the 33 000 sq. meters two-storey underground car park. The floor will be made of resin covering – the works are now 25% done at the -2 level.

The elevation made of 2 000 metal panels will soon begin to be mounted. Test panels have been recently mounted and they will be replaced with final ones after the selection.

Only one tower crane left at the construction site.

Galeria Katowicka is expected to be opened in the second half of 2013.
