The cultural district being currently under construction is the public investment worth PLN 1 billion. But there are also several private investors who own plots in the area of the former “Katowice” coal mine and may invest. One of them is Gant Development, a Polish developer and building company. The firm currently prepares an investment on Olimpijska St.
In 2009, the developer already presented a concept design of three high-rise buildings reminding coal-pits. Now the investor claims to be still interested in this development, however the project will be changed. Administrative procedures are underway to obtain necessary permissions in the City Hall of Katowice.
“We plan to build three buildings as formerly but the scale of the complex has to be adjusted to the present needs of the local market. It will be a mixed-use project combining apartments, services and office spaces” – said Piotr Wołczański, Director of Projects Management Department at Gant Development S.A.
The company bought the plot in 2006 for approximately PLN 5,95 million. It covers almost 1,4 ha. The land is located north-east from the International Convention Center being under construction at present.
Gant was established in 1991 and is based in Legnica, Poland. The company is a holding of several dozen special purpose vehicles conducting developer and building activity. The building activity is focused on constructing housing units and business premises as well as on selling and managing the built real estates.
