Griffin Real Estate (GRE) celebrated a milestone at the topping out ceremony of Supersam on Wednesday. The shopping center will be opened in September this year. Retail spaces are already fully pre-let and first tenants started to outfit their premises.
All the construction works have been concluded, according to Hochtief – a prime contractor of the building. The outfitting is being conducted at full swing to prepare the mall for the autumn opening. Construction crews are now working on inside fittings and the elevation, which will be finally different than the initial version. „It will be made of glass and mineral-treated anthracite color plaster arranged in vertical reliefs” – explained Tomasz Konior, head designer of Supersam and owner of Konior Studio.
The retail part is fully pre-leased and some of the premises were already handed over to tenants. „The offer of Supersam is addressed to customers, which spend time in the center of Katowice on an everyday basis. The tenant mix was prepared to be complemented with the existing services and retail structure of the Katowice downtown and Galeria Katowicka in particular. I think that 40 percent of our offer includes brands which have not been present in the center of the city by now” – said Michał Świerczyński, venture partner and head of retail at Griffin Real Estate.
About 23 000 sq. meters of leasable space will be delivered within the project. There are almost 18 000 sq. meters designed for 70 retail units and 5 300 sq. meters of offices. However, the leasable space will be delivered in two stages. „Supersam and its 18 000 sq. meters of retail and 1 300 sq. meters of office spaces will be put into use in autumn this year. We plan to deliver the remaining 4 000 sq. meters of offices one year later, in the middle of 2016” – Michał Świerczyński added. The subjected area is designed in the place of a multiplex cinema (levels +2 and +3), which had retracted from its pre-lease agreement last year. GRE negotiates leasing contracts with office tenants at present.
Supersam is being built at 6 Piotra Skargi St. Among tenants are: EMPiK, Sports Direct, KiK, Pepco, Szachownica, Aldi, New Look, Monnari, Reserved, Carry, Cropp, House, Mohito, Sinsay, Rossmann, Pure Jatomi, Smyk and others.
