Helios, one of the leaders of the Polish multiplex market, has announced it will open 10 new venues across Poland in the next 2 years. One of the theaters will be located in Katowice.
Helios reveals that seven new multiplexes will be opened in 2014 and another three – including Katowice – in 2015. The company does not publish the location of the new cinema. „I confirm we are going to open the new venue in Katowice, however we can not disclose any further details about the investment at the moment” – commented Urszula Szwed-Strych, press spokesman of Agora S.A., the majority shareholder of Helios.
It would be the second multiplex of the chain in Katowice, if Helios kept its 9-screen theater located in the Altus building in the City center. The Katowice cinema, opened in 2003, is the biggest venue of Helios both in the number of seats (2 158) and number of screens from amongst all multiplexes of the chain.
The network of Helios cinemas consists of 32 modern multiplexes and one traditional cinema all located in Polish cities. Altogether, cinemas of Helios network offer 177 screens and over 38 thousand seats.
