IBM Poland and the University of Economics in Katowice will sign an agreement under the terms of which the university will broaden its curriculum with classes using the latest IBM technology. The event will take place on 2nd of October and is also connected with the opening of the Service Delivery Center of IBM in Katowice.
The agreement will provide optional education of students, PhD students and academics in order to increase the competitiveness of the university in the higher education market. The University of Economics will add to its courses the latest software and educational materials from IBM and will enable students to intern at the company. The event will be attended by Aleš Bartůněk, Country General Manager for IBM Poland and Baltics.
The agreement with the University of Economics is the third one signed by IBM with the higher school in Katowice. Previously, the company joined forces with the Katowice School of Economics and the University of Silesia.
The new IBM center will join a network of strategic IBM delivery centers which render a broad range of IT services including: the management of server operating systems, system protection and security, end-user services including the maintenance and monitoring of IT equipment and software systems. The center started its operations in August 2013 in Francuska Office Center, where the company had leased 3 200 sq. meters of office space in June this year. This month, Echo Investment informed that had signed a lease agreement with IBM concerning an area of nearly 9 000 sq. meters in A4 Business Park where the center will be headquartered and officially opened next year.
