IEM finals will return to Spodek in March

The Intel Extreme Masters World Championship will once again be hosted at the „Spodek” arena in early March next year. Expanded Expo fairs in the International Convention Center will feature the event. The recent edition of IEM gathered 104 000 visitors and more than 73 million stream sessions were recorded across all broadcasts.

Organizers said: „We are thrilled to announce that the last stop of Intel Extreme Masters Season 10 – the World Championship – will once again be hosted at the incredible „Spodek” arena in Katowice. From March the 4th to the 6th 2016, we will return to the impressive stages, amazing atmosphere and thousands of passionate fans to conclude yet another season of the world’s longest-running global e-sports tournament series.”

The Intel Extreme Masters World Championship will see the best teams and players from around the globe battling it out for a prize pool of over USD 350 000, which will be broken down as follows:

„It’s been an incredible ten seasons of the Intel Extreme Masters, and the grand finals to each season – the World Championship – has truly established itself as one of the main events in the calendar of any e-sports fan. This year’s event in Katowice was one of the largest the e-sports industry has ever seen. With the return of Counter-Strike to the main stage, expanded EXPO part and increased prize money, IEM World Championship in 2016 will be even better” – Michał Blicharz, vice president of Pro Gaming at ESL.

The Intel Extreme Masters World Championship in Katowice will not only be another e-sports tournaments but also an expo featuring multiple games and gaming-related companies showcasing the very latest technologies and products. For this event, the expo will be expanded to encompass over 8 000 sq. meters, making the 2016 Intel Extreme Masters World Championship the largest e-sports event in the world to date.

Admission to the event will be free of charge however, due to the enormous popularity of Intel Extreme Masters Katowice, fans will be able to purchase tickets enabling earlier entrance. Tickets go on sale in December.
