Mentor Graphics, a manufacturer of design software and electronic equipment, has moved from Chorzowska 50 to its new office in Silesia Star. It is the largest European research and development center of the company with over 200 employees.

The client was represented by a global commercial real estate consultancy firm Cushman & Wakefield in lease negotiations and the coordination and supervision of fit-out works in the new office. The company has leased 4 417 sq. meters in the building B of the office complex.
Interiors design, office layout and workplace strategy was prepared by BDG architecture + design from London. A detailed documentation based on the BDG project was prepared by Kuryłowicz & Associates from Warsaw, which was also responsible for the architecture design of Silesia Star.
– The project for Mentor Graphics in Katowice was characterized by a number of above standard design solutions. One of the main objectives was to interconnect two floors with an interior stairwell where the primary purpose was to provide connectivity between as many parts of the operation and their people as possible, and also provide a central focus and social hub at the center of the building. In addition, we coordinated a large number of subcontractors working on behalf of the tenant in the construction and finishing stages – says Michał Jaraczewski, senior project manager from the project management and consultancy department at Cushman & Wakefield.
Mentor Graphics Corporation is a world leader in manufacturing solutions for the design of hardware and software, electronics, specializing in electronics design automation. The company offers innovative products and solutions, providing not only software, but also consultation service for engineers. The company also cooperates with the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. In 2016 the Warsaw branch of Cushman & Wakefield represented Mentor Graphics in the fit-out of a new office in Morocco (Rabat) and office extension in Armenia (Yerevan).
The first building of Silesia Star was delivered in December 2014. An occupancy permit of the second one was given in July 2016. The office complex is located at 18 Uniwersytecka St. The eight storey buildings offers A class office space for rent: the first stage – 13 000 sq. meters, the second stage – 12 500 sq. meters. In addition, at 0 and -1 tenants and customers can use a car park for 250 vehicles. On the ground floor retail and service points are provided, which include among others a restaurant and cafe.
