Mostostal Zabrze lays foundation slab for WRiTV new seat

After several months of preparatory works, the investment process of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty’s new seat (WRiTV) is now gaining momentum.

The works are now being conducted in the excavation. A ring steel fence of Larssen sheet pilings has been prepared to strengthen the surrounding buildings’ foundations and to prevent the flooding of the fenced area. Most of earthworks were conducted and a foundation slab is currently being laid inside the excavation.

The new faculty’s seat will be located on the vacant plot, inserted in a consolidated area of tenements. Only a former electrical transformation building’s walls will be preserved and the extension part will be attached to it. The whole plot will be filled up by the new building and an internal courtyard will be released in the central part.

The five-storey building, including the one storey situated under the ground, will offer the usable area of 5 400 sq. meters. The architectural design was prepared by „Grupa5 Architekci” from Warsaw and BAAS from Barcelona.

The construction work is carried out by Mostostal Zabrze „Gliwickie Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Przemysłowego S.A.”, a Mostostal subsidiary. Most of the investment budget – PLN 32,9 million – will be covered by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The works are scheduled to be finished next year. The building will be located at 3 św. Pawła St.
