Neinver closed investment process of Galeria Katowicka

On 17th of September, Neinver Poland and its business partners officially closed the nearly 6-year investment process of the Galeria Katowicka development. The total cost of the undertaking is approximately EUR 170 million.

Galeria Katowicka is part of a EUR 240 million retail-led mixed-use complex located at Szewczyka Square in the very heart of Katowice. The shopping center is the third stage of a four-phase project. The phase one was concluded on 29th of October 2012 with the delivery of the new Railway Station’s hall. The second phase, the development of the bus hub, was completed in February 2013. The present phase comprises the delivery of a circa 220-store modern shopping mall with over 48 000 sq. meters of gross letable area and up to 1 200 underground car parking spaces. A modern office building – the fourth stage – is planned to be erected in the vicinity in the future.

„Galeria Katowicka, together with the entire retail and transportation center, is the very important undertaking for our company” – said Agata Brzezińska, country manager at Neinver Poland. „We have been creating it since the first concept design, we built it and now we are going to be responsible for the management. This is a joint success and a result of cooperation with our business partners: Meyer Bergman and Polish State Railways as well as with authorities of the City Hall, Silesian voivodeship, people working at the construction site, and particularly the Strabag prime contractor and the Arup project manager” – she added.

„The project of Galeria Katowicka is a huge, quantum jump in the City’s development process. This is the completely new space and I am convinced it will positively influence the development of surrounding properties. I would like Galeria Katowice to be an important place both for the City and the region” – commented Piotr Uszok, Katowice mayor.

The first customers will enter Galeria Katowicka on Wednesday, 18th of September, at 10 a.m. The opening will last 5 days. The mall authorities decided the opening attractions would be extended for several days due to location of the facility in the City center.

Anchor tenants of Galeria Katowicka are: Stokrotka, RTV Euro AGD, KappAhl, Super-Pharm, C&A, Reserved, Zara, Rossmann, Peek & Cloppenburg, Multikino. The mall is now over 90 percent let.
