The City Hall of Katowice is preparing to open a new city community center in the „Dąb” district. Construction works have been already concluded on the building.
„Currently, the building commissioning is taking place and soon we expect to obtain an occupancy permit. Also, furnitures and equipment are being provided for the interiors. Opening date is yet unknown as we wait to issue and decide all tendering procedures for the equipment suppliers” – said Joanna Górska, press office of the Katowice City Hall.
The 1 577 sq. meters building will be a home of a ballet hall, multifunctional room (for about 100 spectators), changing rooms, and music rooms all to be situated on the ground floor. The first floor is mostly designed for a library and offices.
The irregular shape of the building reminds the reversed “S” letter creating two half-opened patios. The roof features a meander path which enables visitors to get from the ground level to its top equipped with concrete benches.
The cultural facility is located at 1 Krzyżowa St. and it was designed by the architectural bureau of “Pracownia Architektury i Urbanistyki Rafal Mazur” from Warsaw.
