New complex of Academy of Fine Arts

The Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice invites companies to tender for the preparation of an engineering design of a new scientific complex with a cultural purposes. The documentation has to include an architectural design of the building and area. Localized between Raciborska and Koszarowa Streets, the future complex should be composed of 5 000 sq. m of usable area with an underground car park and about a 10 000 sq. m park with a small architecture. The construction works are scheduled to commence in Q4 2010 and will be finished after 18 months.

About the Academy
The Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice was established on 1st of September 2001. It derived from experience and tradition of artistic education in Silesia, after 54 years of being a Branch of Fine Art Academy in Kraków. Nowadays, the Academy’s buildings are spread over a few spots of Katowice. Thanks to the co-operation with local authorities, and with a significant contribution of the Ministry of Culture’s subsidy the Academy managed to finish the first stage of renovation of a building at 17 Koszarowa Street. Digital Technique Studio and Screen Process Studio – the studios of the Graphic Art Chair – were located there. Consistently, based on European funds and non-government financial sources the Academy in the course of renovating two other buildings: at 9 Dąbrówki Street and at 37 Raciborska Street.
