In the middle of 2010, the Medical University of Silesia inaugurated construction works of the Didactics and Medical Simulation Center (DMSC). The project established a revamp of an old hospital laundry into the ultra-modern education center. Lately, a raw state of the building was finished and works are moving ahead.
“At present, the builder’s crew works on a roof covering and fittings inside the building. Construction works are to be finished in October this year. Then, the Center has to be equipped with modern facilities. In mid-2011 we are going to issue a tender for the supply and installation of the equipment. The building’s opening is planned for October 2012” – said Błażej Śmigas, Project Coordinator of the DMSC.
The only institution of that kind in Poland will offer its students simulation techniques rooms, programming center and a self-assessment room. The building is predicted to act like a real hospital where students can practice simulation studies using phantoms.
The PLN 33,5 million project is co-financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund within the Framework of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment. Erbud S.A. is a prime contractor of the construction works.
