The City Hall of Katowice with the support of the Association of Business Service Leaders in Poland (ABSL) was presenting Katowice as the attractive location for business services centers during the 7th Annual World BPO/ITO Forum in New York.
This one of the most prestigious conventions for the outsourcing sector in the USA took place from 2nd to 3rd of June. The forum gathers top managers of mid-sized and large U.S. companies. The Katowice representatives, with the mayor Piotr Uszok in the lead, had a chance to meet decision makers from around the world, which are responsible for foreign direct investments realization, and to present the City assets during a special opening session on the forum’s first day: „Feel the outsourcing beat of the heart of Europe in Katowice”.
„The fact, that so many attendees visited our Polish stand, is a proof for the growing investment potential of Poland and Katowice as the more and more important player in the area of business services centers’ sector. Such global brands as Kroll Ontrack, Rockwell Automation, Unilever, PwC or Capgemini already established their centers in the City. The crucial moment for Katowice was the decision of IBM about the opening of its Global Service Delivery Center. It was a clear sign for many investors, that Katowice is one of top locations in regard to investment attractiveness. If we look into statistics, a large number of centers, which were already opened in Katowice, is dedicated to ITO. Now we would like to focus on finance and accounting centers and we intensify our efforts to attract and convince investors to set up more advanced F&A processes in the City. That is why we promote Katowice in New York – the largest financial center of the world” – commented Piotr Uszok, Katowice mayor.
On 4th of June the City of Katowice in cooperation with the MDA Associates consulting firm and the Trade and Investment Section of the Consulate General of Poland in New York hosted a VIP invitation-only breakfast meeting in Harvard Club. The event was opened by Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in New York.
