PKP Polish Railway Lines S.A. (PKP PLK), a company of PKP Group responsible for management of national railway network, chose a prime contractor which will redevelop platforms number 2, 3, 4* and surrounding infrastructure of Katowice Railway Station.
The contract exceeding net PLN 49,57 million was won by „Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Komunikacyjnych w Krakowie S.A.” (PRK). Eight companies were vying for the contract.
Within the project, the company has to redevelop the platforms, railway lines, underground passage-ways, and develop new moving stairs, information system for passengers as well as a power grid and water-supply-and-sewage system. Additionally, all the platforms will be covered by a solid roof.
The construction work is to be concluded by 30th of November 2012.
* The platform number 1 is being redeveloped by Transkol Sp. z o.o. at present.
