PTWP Event Center signed agreement to manage ICC and Spodek

The City Hall of Katowice and PTWP Event Center have signed an agreement of concession for services involving organization of events and management of the International Convention Center and the „Spodek” sport and entertainment hall. The contract will enter into force on 2nd of May this year.

On 4th of February the agreement was signed by Marcin Krupa, Katowice mayor and Wojciech Kuśpik, president of the board of PTWP Event Center, a subsidiary of PTWP Group – an organizer of the European Economic Congress.

„The International Convention Center is one of key elements of the expansion strategy of the business tourism in Katowice. We see today that the strategy really works and has a positive impact on the city image. We are going to continue these efforts” – said Marcin Krupa.

The agreement will enter into force in three months, on the 2nd of May. The time is needed to hand over the venues to the licensee and to keep organizational flowing. The company will hand over the buildings with the agenda partially filled with events to be held in 2016 and will be continued in the upcoming years.

The three biggest and most important events – Intel Extreme Masters, WTA Open 2016 and Ice Hokey World Championships will be held before the contract is entered into force. The agreement was signed for 15 years.

The City Hall had to choose the licensee as it was a crucial requirement stated by the European Commission, which decided about the financial support for the development of the International Convention Center. The commission rules say that the management services have to be carried out by a private operator selected in an open, transparent and non-discriminatory procedure.
