Sixty-nine architectural studios from Poland and abroad were qualified to submit entries of a competition for an architectural and urban concept of a new seat of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty.
The competition was announced in July 2010 by the Katowice Branch of the Association of Polish Architects (SARP Katowice). An expiration date of submitting competition entries is scheduled for 26th of November 2010. About a one month later, on 20th of December, the jury will announce results.
Solutions of a project must guarantee that costs of the new Faculty’s building will not exceed amount of PLN 20 million gross.
The Faculty is a University of Silesia’s nationwide unit which runs didactic, artistic and scientific activities in the fields of film and TV art. The purpose of implementing a new seat of the Radio and Television Faculty is to improve conditions and the quality of education, development metropolitan functions of the Upper Silesian Agglomeration and creation of a high quality public space in the City Center.
The building will be localized on Św. Pawła Street on a plot covering area of 2 258 sq. meters. The City of Katowice is an owner of the plot.
