T-Systems, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has opened its first own data center in Poland. The new center is located in Katowice in 3Services Factory.
The Katowice base is one of 90 data centers of T-Systems located around the globe. It already has begun offering services of information storage and back-up, infrastructure relocation and consolidation, cloud computing. T-Systems also provides solutions of VoIP over Cloud, IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service), unlimited Internet access and communication throughout a WAN (Wide Area Network).
“While choosing a new base for our data center, the most important for us was the strict security standards and comprehensive certification as well as the location and accessibility of telecommunication network and data transfer” – said Maciej Plebański, head of direct sales and public at T-Systems Poland.
The 3Services Factory data processing center is located at 12 Gospodarcza St. It is mostly used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. The center includes backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire safety system) and security solutions (CCTV monitoring, security personnel, two access and exit roads).
Deutche Telecom’s T-Systems operates information and communication technology (ICT) systems for multinational corporations and public sector institutions using a global infrastructure of data centers and networks. It serves companies in all industries employing 47 600 people worldwide and generating a revenue of around EUR 9,2 billion in 2011. In Poland, T-Systems has been operating since 1998 and generated a revenue of PLN 240 million last year.
