High streets retail in Katowice

Jones Lang LaSalle published a report on high retail streets among the biggest Polish cities. The research examines central parts of the cities which are defined as natural retail destinations.

Most of retailers units of high streets in Poland occupy a short stretch of streets or focus on two or three locations, for example department stores. The high street retail in Katowice is much more expansive and spread across several streets.

Renewal of 3 Maja Street

In 2007, 3 Maja Street was classified among top ten streets in Europe with the highest rental growth which picked level of 34,3%. One year later the 38,3% street’s growth was the best result in Poland. The year 2009 had brought a slow down in rentals all around the world, but 3 Maja stayed at its level of EUR 780/sq. m per year while most of top Polish localisations declined in prices. It resulted that 3 Maja is still the fourth expensive retail street in Poland.

Among all Polish cities and its top retail locations, 3 Maja Street in Katowice reached 38,3% annual rental growth rate, which is the best result for the country. The rate is growing up steadly since the last year when it was recorded of 34,3% and the street was at list of top 10 localisations with the strongest rental growth in Europe. 3 Maja St. is also the 4th most expensive street in Poland – rent per annum is 780 €/sq.m.
