The International Convention Center (ICC) will be a one of three new buildings planned in the area of the future cultural district near “Spodek”. A need of a full-sized convention center in a one location in the City was strongly visible during the last European Economic Congress (EEC) where participants had to move between ten different localizations. It was commented that all important congress events and congress cities need a professional base including different size spaces situated in a one building.

Conference on business tourism promotion

On 29th of June 2010 a „Meetings Energy” conference will be held in the angelo Hotel Katowice at 24 Sokolska St. The conference will concern a promotion of Katowice in the context of the business tourism market.

A purpose of the event is to define opportunities and threats as well as weaknesses and strengths of Katowice and the region as the destination of business tourism.

Convention Bureau participated in IMEX 2010

The Katowice Convention Bureau took part in IMEX 2010 which was held from 25th to 27th of May in Frankfurt, Germany. IMEX is the worldwide exhibition for the meetings industry and incentive travel and events. Katowice, together with Gdańsk, Kraków and Warsaw, were presenting its offer on the Convention Bureau of Poland’s exhibition stand of the Polish Tourism Agency (POT).

Meetings energy

The City Hall launched a campaign which promotes Katowice as a place for business tourists. Named “Meetings Energy. Katowice MICE” (meetings, incentive, conferences, events), the campaign is based on spending time in such places as Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska, the Beskidy mountains, golf links and stud farms around Katowice, but first of all, is inviting to business meetings in the heart of the City – in “Spodek” and the nearest, future International Convention Center.
