During today’s last day of European Economic Congress in Katowice was signed up an agreement for cooperation in the name of a call for the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KCIs) within the framework of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Designation of two or three proposals will take place in the beginning of 2010.
On Friday, April 17th will take place the opening of innovative energy-saving building in Euro-Centrum Industrial Park at Ligota district. As the one and only building in Katowice and southern Poland will be saving about 65% of energy use up by typical buildings. It is possible thanks to a heat pump, BKT system, mechanical energy ventilation, isolation and an appropriate management between the parts of system.
Between April 15th – 17th Katowice will host a congress devoted to issues concerning the economic future of the European Union. The most prominent figures from the European world of politics, business and science will discuss the global economic situation and ways of tackling climate changes.
Upper Silesia constitutes a splendid framework for such debate in Poland. It is a region with one of the biggest agglomerations of our continent, an area of a great potential and rich industrial traditions, which effectively modernizes and transforms its economy. We can easily hazard a thesis that it is here in Silesia that the economic issues and challenges as well as social ones of the united Europe concentrate.
