IBM Team 2 starts second stage of ESC Katowice

On 20th of May 2010 the Team 1 of the Executive Service Corps (ESC) programme finished its visit in Katowice. The IBM experts had worked in the City for three weeks. During that time the managers met more than 200 representatives of local government, business, academics and organizations to understand and define crucial challenges of Katowice and the Silesian Metropolis. Today, the Team 2 of IBM starts works to continue the initiative in the City.

IBM findings tell Katowice how to be smarter

IBM and the City Hall of Katowice finished today a first stage of the IBM Executive Service Corps initiative. Within the framework of the programme the team of five IBM managers from the United States and Brazil were analyzing and preparing main assumptions of the “Smarter City” model.

During the last three weeks the managers met more than 200 representatives of local government, business, academics and organizations to understand and define crucial challenges of Katowice and the Silesian Metropolis.

Workshop: investment potential and promotion

Last Friday, authorities and representatives of business and universities took part in a workshop concerning investment attractiveness, potential and promotion of the City of Katowice in the context of the “Silesia” Metropolis. The workshop was also attended by five IBM managers (Executive Service Corps) which currently work in Katowice within the framework of the Smarter Cities’ initiative.

IBM advises Katowice to become Smart City

IBM, in cooperation with the City Hall of Katowice, starts an IBM Executive Service Corps (ESC) project. The aim of this strategic initiative is to create a Smart City. Within the framework of the project, the company’s top talented managers will work in Katowice to help the City and the Silesia Metropolis with a crucial problems identification and advise in a field of strategic growth. The project will take over three months.
