A development of the new seat of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra will cost a PLN 259 million and is scheduled to commence in 2011. At present, Konior Studio, awarded main prize in 2008 at an international architectural competition for the project of the building, is under the design work. Is intended to finish the works in 2010 and afterwards, a motion for the building permit can be filed in the City Hall.
An official presentation of a future look of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra took place in the Art Roundabout yesterday. The presentation was made by Konior Studio which won an architectural competiton for the best project for the seat of NPRSO building. A present design concept is an evolution of a previous project prepared for the last year contest.
The building will deliver, the biggest in Poland, a five-level and 1 735-seated concert hall for classical music lovers.
After the last year failed chance at European Union grants competition, when the National Polish Radio Symhony Orchestra building specification was uncompleted – lack of planning consent – the Ministry of Culture announced the second recruitment. According to Gazeta Wyborcza, submited projects will be chosen out of competition turn as the Ministry wants to push grants sharing on.
The realization of the new seat of National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice will be financed from the EU structural funds, the Silesian Office of the Marshal and the Municipal Office in Katowice.

The Associations of Polish Architects SARP in Katowice has chosen an urban and architectural concept of the new seat of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. The winning project was prepared by Konior Studio well-known for the great realisation of “Symfonia” – the extension of Music Academy in Katowice.
