New transportation hub opened in Katowice

At midnight on Saturday, 2nd of February, representatives of Neinver, Strabag and the Municipal Streets and Bridges Authority opened the underground bus station and the Dworcowa tunnel. The delivered facilities covers a total usable area of almost 10 000 sq. meters.

The investment is part of the PLN 1 billion project being carried out at Szewczyka Sq. The construction work took 2 years. The value of the undertaking exceeds PLN 300 million

Neinver and Strabag show underground bus hub

The opening of the underground bus hub and Dworcowa tunnel are supposed to be opened on 2nd of January. Today, Neinver and Strabag officially presented the underground infrastructure to media representatives.

The new bus hub will be located at the -1 level, exactly under the Railway Station hall. The 300 meters long Dworcowa tunnel, running across Szewczyka Sq., will also be found under the ground.

Tests completed on underground bus hub

On 21st of November, the underground bus station saw a road test involving public transport buses. At the same time, the test was a final stage of commissioning of the bus hub.

According to an official statement, the road test was successful and the station was commissioned by the Municipal Transport Union of the Upper Silesian Industrial District (KZK GOP) and the Municipal Transport Company Katowice (PKM Katowice).
