Tauron 17th biggest company in CEE

Tauron Polska Energia, Katowice-based electricity distributor, went one place up and is now number 17 on the list of 500 Biggest Companies in Central and Eastern Europe prepared by „Rzeczpospolita” daily and Deloitte. Tauron is also among the TOP 25 largest listed companies.

This is yet another move up in the ranking. Last year Tauron was on 18th and two years ago 23rd place.

The company achieved their high position mainly thanks to increased sales revenue. In 2012 it amounted to over PLN 24,7 billion, i.e. approximately 19,2 percent more than in the same period a year earlier. Tauron also improved their net result which is also taken into account in the rating and which amounted to over PLN 1,5 billion last year, i.e. almost 22 percent more than in 2011.

Tauron Polska Energia S.A. is the mother company in the Tauron Polska Energia Capital Group. The Tauron Group is one of the largest business entities in Poland with the capital of approximately PLN 16,5 billion. The holding employs approximately 28 thousand people and is the largest electricity distributor in Poland. The Group’s distribution grid covers an area of approximately 57 000 square kilometers, which represents approximately 18,3% of Poland’s total area, and consists of power lines measuring about 223 700 kilometers.
