Tender issued for International Convention Center

On Tuesday, the City Hall of Katowice issued a competitive tender for finishing works on the International Convention Center (ICC). The previous contract with Polimex-Mostostal was withdrawn by the City Hall in September due to, among others, delay of the construction work.

Tendering companies can enter their bids by 30th of January 2013. The lowest price will be decisive. A chosen prime contractor will have 16 months to deliver the 37 900 sq. meters building. According to the preliminary schedule, the construction work will be re-launched in the second quarter of 2013 and to be completed in the third quarter of 2014. One of conditions to be fulfilled by the building company will be a three-shift system of works to accelerate the construction.

The estimated cost of the construction work is PLN 280 million excluding VAT. The previous bid entered by Polimex-Mostostal in 2011 was worth gross PLN 252,68 million and was chosen from amongst twelve bids.

In fact, the new prime contractor will be obliged to erect almost whole building as the ICC is now only 6% done in spite Polimex-Mostostal has been conducting the contracted works for 11 months.
